Biographical Sketch: Gilbert Achay is originally from O'ahu, Hawai'i, where he briefly studied at the University of Hawai'i. He continued his undergraduate education at the University of Minnesota, where he studied child development. Gilbert has been in the nonprofit sector for five years, during which time he has been involved in youth work, HIV prevention, LGBT organizing and health disparities issues. His current work involves technical assistance and capacity building with the Asian Pacific Partners for Empowerment, Advocacy and Leadership (APPEAL), and serves on the boards of the Rainbow Health Initiative and Minnesota Asian/American Health Coalition.
