Biographical Sketch: Experience in cross cultural health care includes the following:
2004–2007 Co-Principal Investigator for a three-year, $450,000 Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality sub-grant to develop and test a methodology to use a consumer satisfaction survey for performance improvement in Indian Health Service facilities
2002–2006 Co-project Director for a three-year, $1,050,000 National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities, National Institutes of Health grant; Co-Principal Investigator for a pilot study to design and test a survey to assess the satisfaction and experience of Indian people with healthcare provided by the Indian Health Service
1992 Coauthored a grant proposal that resulted in a three-year, $2.5 million grant from the City of Houston Department of Health and Human Services to establish, staff, and operate a private health clinic providing prenatal, immunization, and well child services to several underserved populations (i.e., African American, Southeast Asian, and Hispanic)residing in Harris County, TX
