Biographical Sketch: Robert C. Like, M.D., M.S. is Professor and Director of the Center for Healthy Families and Cultural Diversity, Department of Family Medicine, UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Like has a background in medical anthropology, received his MD degree from Harvard Medical School in 1979, and completed his family medicine residency and fellowship training from Case Western Reserve University in 1984. He has served on numerous expert panels, committees, and task forces including the AMA/NMA/NHMA Commission to End Health Care Disparities and DHHS Office of Minority Health’s “CLAS Standards” National Advisory Committee. He has also co-chaired the STFM Group on Multicultural Health Care and Education and consulted to the European Union’s Migrant Friendly Hospitals initiative. Dr. Like is nationally known for his work in the area of cultural competency education and research, and provides training and technical assistance relating to the delivery of patient-centered, culturally responsive care to diverse populations.
