Sixth National Conference on Quality Health Care for Culturally Diverse Populations:

Roundtable D Creating incentives for cultural competence training: The role of financial rewards and employment agreements

This session will explore how health care organizations promote cultural competence training for staff. Two brief presentations will describe the mechanisms, successes and challenges of using cash incentives, performance measures, and mandatory requirements for training related to cultural competence. A respondent with expertise in pay-for-performance measures will explore the link between this and the incentives described by the presenters. All the panelists will then discuss the issues raised with each other and audience members.
